2017 was a year of great and exciting changes for Linke’s Local Arts, from new artists to increasing our art materials department. The year was kicked off with The Gallery’s first Art Wards & Gala Night in January with our very special guest speaker Clearview Township Deputy Major Barry Burton. In the Spring we held a very special Art Auction featuring art work from all over Ontario. One piece was the gem of the auction, this early work from the Late Robert Ralph Carmichael. FYI this piece did not go at that time and will be up for auction once again in the next few months. In the Spring we also held our Annual Art Competition, winners were Colette Bailey, Lesley Martel and David Bennett. The Gallery once again participated in The Stayner Duck Race, with our entry “Funky Duck”! He didn’t place but swam his little heart out. Spring also saw our first Poetry Contest’ 1st place went to Micheal Linke for his poem “My Happy Place”. This was Micheal’s first time entering his poetry into competition.
Our first Photography Competition brought entries from our local communities as well Barrie, On and Midland,On. The 1st Place Prize & 2nd Place Prize went to Barrie Photographer James Krant. Big Thanks to everyone who submitted their work to both of our competitions.
June first Aboriginal Month Exhibition, July Canadian 150 Celebration, Frieda Linke Toronto Show etc..What a Summer!
Into The Fall! Kicked off with The Fall Leaves Competition, 1st Place was Bruce Bushey of Collingwood, On. Then right on to the Stayner Witches Walk and Remembrance Day. This Year I (Frieda Linke) had the great honor of having my series Images Of Afghanistan Paintings on display at The Stayner Legion and Jubilee Church.
Dec arrived, time to get ready for the Christmas Season! Starting with the first light up Stayner late night shopping on the same night as the town tree lighting event. Store fronts all decked out in magical Christmas themes to delight our late night shoppers. Linke’s Local Arts joined in on the festivities at the Stayner’s Santa Claus Parade with our Big Present Float!
We saw some very sad moments over the past year, as we mourn the loss of dear friends.
Until We Meet Again!………
As the last chapter of 2017 came to a close and 2018’s first paper now opened! Linke’s Local Arts sends out to everyone, our great thanks and appreciation for you on going patronage and support!
See You Soon!
